Join Women In Engineering for their annual Cocktail Fundraiser and Silent Auction for charity. The charity of choice this year is Voice.

This event promises to be an evening to unwind with drinks, canapés and great music with special guest DJ Kratonic.

Donated paintings and vouchers will be “SILENT” auctioned on the evening. All funds raised to go to Voice. Voice is an Australian charity committed to making a difference in the lives of marginalised and vulnerable people. In Cambodia, Voice works directly with families in crisis to help them access their fundamental human rights (eg. food, shelter, healthcare, protection, education) and to improve their own lives.

Brisbane Low Brow Art Exhibition

2013 will bring the 2^nd annual exhibition Brisbane Low Brow curated by Lucinda Wolber to Bleeding Heart. With its teetering but tasteful work, this is sure to be an exhibition that shouldn’t be missed.

On the success on the 2012, Wolber has put together another stellar line up of national artists who explore the many aspects of lowbrow art, including illustration, kitsch, sketch, comic, cartoon, skate, nostalgic and tattooing styles

Brisbane Lowbrow is a group exhibition that celebrates and appreciates the humour and wistfulness of Lowbrow illustration. This exhibition will display 14 of the best emerging artists working in the Lowbrow sphere! These artists include:

Hands on Brisbane is aprogramme of craft workshops, demonstrations and Q&A sessions provides a fantstic opportunity for people to learn new skills, showcase local talent and add extra creativity to Brisbane.

These workshops are conducted by some of Brisbane’s finest artisans to give you a hands on approach to learning your new skill. With many classes also providing the materials you need to start straight away, all you need to do is turn up and start creating!

“Die Empty” – Group Exhibition

Die Empty presents new work from local artists on opening night from 5pm June 28 at Bleeding Heart Gallery.

Die Empty is an artists group led by English artist Samantha Yallope for the purpose of sharing the artist’s creative process with the local community. Die Empty presents ten local artists including Katie Lee Grech, Carla Benzie, Joy French and Travis D. Hendrix.

Opening night begins at 5pm on June 28 with live entertainment. Throughout the evening, artists will share their creative processes with you.

Under special arrangement, the gallery is open the following morning, where the artists will be sketching gallery visitors.

Die Empty aims to help audiences to appreciate artwork by involving them in the creation process. The artists communicate it by sharing flash folders of their inspiration and work in progress, or allowing the audience to directly participate in the creation process.

Teresa Jordan & Rita Ringma Joint Exhibition

Bleeding Heart is proud to present a new exhibition featuring local illustrator and designer Teresa Jordan and sculptor Rita Ringma.

Teresa Jordan’s new exhibition explores colour and form and is influenced by 20th century artists Mark Rothko and Joan Mitchell. Rita Ringma’s sculptural ceramic works glow with the colours of earth and sky. Pieces are fired as many as five times to achieve the subtlety of the glazes.

OPENING NIGHT: Friday 14th June 5pm – 9pm – All welcome!

The gallery and exhibition will be open daily between 7:30am and 5pm: Monday June 17, Tuesday June 18 and Wednesday June 19 and Thursday June 20. It will also by open between 9am and 1pm on Saturday June 15.

All welcome and admission to the exhibition is free.
